The design simulates the bio ink printer's action by dropping marbles onto a circular disk one by one until it is full. The visitor releases the disk of marbles into a cylinder. An animation conveys the healing process of the organ printers function.
First concept drawing of functional organ printer.
This is the first Cell and Organ Printing Protein and Cell Printer.
It was designed by W. Cris Wilson, jr. and Thomas Boland from the Department of Bioengineering, Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina. It will be used in the exhibit as an example of the evolution of mechanical devices designed to print protein solutions to solid surfaces.
